These images below are my designs that I created from my own images. I have four designs that I created for the front double page spread. I thought of a large image front cover, so for the first design I spread my image over the whole of the first page. On the second page I then added other smaller images, and information on what my article was about. I added a black border around the images as this made them stand out, and this looked more presentable to the viewer when reading.
I added the title of the magazine at the top left of the page, followed by what my article is about. This design was slightly inspired by this magazine cover by having the first image spread over the whole of the first page. [link]. For the second page I didn't want it to become overcrowded with images, and writing, as I knew that I had another double page spread to crate, in which the writing could continue.
I like this design as it is simple, and the front cover is attractive which will encourage people to come over and have a look. At the moment I have just added placeholder text, although you will see my final piece with the added text.
For my second design, I had a similar thought to the first one, although cropping two images, and spreading them across the whole two pages. Including the title in the middle of the magazine. I thought of something immediately of why I will not choose this design. People may get confused when seeing this magazine wondering if this is the magazine title, or the article title. I thin this was a good design, although needs some more thought into the design and layout. I created a second version of this design which has my added thoughts to make this design more easier to read, and to make it become clearer for the viewer.
This is my third design of the previous version. I thought that this was a good design, although just needed tweaking on the layout, to make this easier, and clearer for the reader/viewer. I have the title of the magazine in large, but only placed on the left page, and in small the article, and author on the right page. I thin this looks much better, as this is more presentable to the viewer, and also have a great effect with the two contrasting images.
This is my fourth design that I created for the front double page spread. Experimenting with the second, and third design I created this one to see how it would look with just one image spread across the whole two pages. The image I choose was a picture that had a contrast within the image instead of using two completely different images. On the left page it shows a beautiful landscape/park with bright trees/grass and full of wildlife, although on the right page in the distance you see a horrible grey powerstation, that is full of pollution. Just before this you see the disgusting dirty water from the powerstation. I think this is one of my best images, as it shows so much in the image. I didn't want the image to cover the whole page, so I cropped it down, so a white border would appear around the image. At the top of the image I created a black banner that runs over both pages giving the title of the magazine, title of the article, and the author on it. I think this is one of my best front double page spreads, as this looks interesting with the image, and the layout is not too cluttered or busy. I think this will entice the reader to come over and look at the magazine. This type of design I was inspired by my research images. There was quite a few magazine covers that had a image spread across the whole of the double page spread. I had done the same, although added my own style to the magazine as well; white border, and black banner.
